After recent testing in Germany, the 2011 Mercedes CL-Class looks like it has gotten a new makeover from the previous model seen at dealers. While around Chicago, C-Class Wagon models are probably as popular as the CL-Class, there should be a large number of Mercedes owners and shoppers chomping at the bit for the new-look CL-Class. The fourth generation CL-Class is said to be a big two-door coupe, with new features that include, a new headlamp, new bonnet and bumper designs, a more pointed and tapering front grille that features two horizontal bars instead of three. Also, added were mandatory LED daytime running lights.

Around Chicago, Mercedes-Benz dealers are excited about the new exterior that includes, door mirrors, and alloy wheel designs. At the back of the CL-Class new LED tail lights and an additional set of lights that surrounded the license plate area have been added. Also, the CL-Class rear bumper has been restyled with newly shaped exhaust pipes. It has also been rumored that CL-Class will introduce a range of new high-tech gadgets and some minor upgrades in the interior, Such as the Mercedes new split view central monitor that allows the passenger and driver to see different pictures on the same screen. No other details about this new technology have been announced.

Similar to the current generation, the new model will be powered by the same range of V8 and V12 engines for the AMG versions. The CL63 AMG’s 6.3-litre V8 makes 525-horsepower and a maximum torque of 465 lb/ft while the CL65 AMG’s 6.0-litre bi-turbocharged V12 will deliver an output of 612HP and 737 lb/ft of torque.

Around Chicago, Mercedes-Benz dealers are hoping that the rumor that Mercedes might put  the Diesotto engine that was used in the concept of this model comes true. The Diesotto engine is a  four-cylinder engine with a displacement of only 1.8 liters that combines the strong points of the low emission gasoline engine with the consumption benefits of the diesel drive. The maximum output for this engine is 238 hp and the electric motor pitches in another 20 hp. The system’s maximum torque is about 400 Newton meters. Its CO2 emissions of a mere 127 grams per kilometer correspond to consumption of only 5.3 liters of gasoline per 100 kilometers, Awhich is extremely low for a vehicle of this class. A hybrid version of the CL- Class is also currently being  considered. Als0, the 2011 CL-Class will use the new active PRE-SCAN suspension, which is a system that scours the road ahead using two lasers and automatically adjusts the suspension to suit.

The 2011 CL-Class will begin sales at all - Mercedes-Benz dealers in 2012, which is the same time as the release of the next generation S-Class.
