Finally after months of pictures that have given us very little information about what the 2011 Mercedes CLS will look like, new shots have emerged that give us the CLS’s actual styling traits. In Chicago, used Mercedes-Benz dealers were excited to find out that the overall shape of the four door coupe remains similar to previously sold in Chicago, Mercedes C Class cars. The most noticiable similarity to the previous model of the CLS is the same sloping roof line and the banana-shaped body.
These leaked pictures show that the redesigned CLS features a larger grille, a more prominent front bumper, and angular headlights. Also, the CLS will feature LED technology on both the front and rear lights, along with striped side indicator lights and trapezoidal tailpipes. In Chicago, Used Mercedes-Benz dealers think the most interesting detail of the CLS is the position of the third brake light because it is located in the bumper between the exhausts pipes. Inside the new CLS, the interior’s materials have been completly changed from previous Chicago Mercedes C-Class cars and has been replaced with more cost-friendly material. The car is expected to have 2 doors, that are framless like the 5er GT. This would allow the CLS to have the advantage of lower weight and reduced drag, which would make the 2011 CLS a good option for highway drivers and chronic shoppers. The CLS is said to be longer than the 4.9 metre current model in line that competes with similar models from Aston Martin, the Porsche Panamera and the soon to be Audi-A7.
Under the CLS’s hood, engine options will be simiar to those offered in the E-Class. This means we can expect a variety of petrol and diseal units, including a 3.5-liter V6 and a 5.5-liter V8. There has also been some speculation that the CLS AMG 4.0 liter twin turbo V8, that produces over 400 KW will be offered for the new Mercedes CLS Class. A hybrid version is also expected. The standard gearbox should be the usual 7-speed automatic for the 2011 CLS.
More details will emerge on this car as we get closer to the CLS’s release date. The redesigned, 2011 CLS-Class is expected to make its debut later this year and is expected to go on sale early in 2011
