5 coming car technologies that could change the way you drive

In and around Chicago, C-Class wagon drivers are excited about what new safety features and innovative technology awaits them inside new Mercedes vehicles soon. And it seems like they won’t be disappointed, since several exciting features are coming down the pipeline with benefits ranging from added safety, to introducing smartphone capability and even increased fuel efficiency.

Imagine driving at a high speed, going past the point where braking would be effective, yet still being able to avoid a collision through steering.  It would be great, right? This is exactly what the Emergency Steer Assist (ESA) is capable of doing.  And before you freak out, no this feature does not take over and do your steering for you – it only suggests the type of steering given a particular braking situation by inducing the correct steering by for instance, stiffening the suspension.  Around Chicago, used Mercedes drivers are even excited for the implications this could have on for instance, car insurance rates since technically, a feature like ESA makes the car safer. 1969 Mercedes-Benz 280 SE from ‘The Hangover’ to go on sale

Many of you will remember last year’s hilarious blockbuster hit, ‘The Hangover’ which was an awesome film, but also featured a memorable car.  Remember the 1969 Mercedes-Benz 280 SE that the guys drove from Los Angeles to Las Vegas and ended up trashing it while on their adventure?  Now, around Chicago, C-Class wagon drivers among others will have a chance to get their hands on this piece of pop culture.

Cinema Vehicles of North Hollywood, the design shop that built the 280 SE for ‘The Hangover’ is putting the 1969 Mercedes-Benz 280 SE up on eBay for the highest bidder to take home.  In total, four vehicles were built for the movie, with two being involved in the stunt work and consequently being totaled, while the two others were preserved.  The vehicle currently on sale is one of those two that were obviously not destroyed. Mercedes wants EVs sold at US dealers within 2 years

The work of Damiler AG research and development chief Dr. Thomas Weber could have luxury electric vehicles sooner than thought locally around Chicago. New and used Mercedes dealers should become fully prepared to sell zero emission, lithium-ion battery-powered vehicles and provide service for these vehicles for customers within the next two years. Weber has begun training service personnel at Mercedes-Benz dealerships how to handle the high voltage power systems in these vehicles and how to operate the new drive systems in these vehicles, such as, electric climate control, charging the vehicle,and vehicle to vehicle integration, which with the on-board lithium-ion packs storing electricity when demand is low and feeding it back when the network is high.
